Scope and Sequence Please contribute to our document about what is happening in your respective school areas. We need to put together a workable base for the scope and sequence that should be implemented in our schools. Include what you do, what you would like to see taught, and whatever else you can think of. If you would please include your name so that if questions arise we can ask for specifics. Thanks in advance for your input - this will be a great tool for us to use to validate our positions in our schools, give us a standard we should be working towards, and hopefully serve as an avenue for getting librarians into the elementary schools at a reasonable ratio.
As licensed district Area Media Specialists, each of us is responsible for 16 elementary libraries, with every library employing two 17-hr assistants to maintain day-to-day circulation and operation. This makes it impossible to teach all information literacy curricula necessary for our young students. We're doing our best. Together with our former colleagues as a team of six in the old JSD, a year ago we revised our elementary library curriculum to make it feasible for our assistants to present to classes in each grade periodically throughout the year important topics in 10- to 15-minute segments so that students can develop and build on skills in small bites and still have time to check out reading materials during their regular weekly 30-minute library visits. Below is a topical outline of the information currently covered. Elementary presentations can be found online: Elementary Media Currilulum

Remember to keep in mind the needs and differences at Valley High School. We're small but our kids are important and need to succeed.
We do much of the above but also excell at individual help, tutoring, and teaching on a one-on-one basis. We are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm four days a week, and do not get funded like most high schools but as a special program. Steve

This looks good. It makes sense that 11th and 12th is basically the same. By then, it should just be review.
